Echoes of a Cherish Unraveled
I.Once, your title was a delicate whisper on my lips,A supplication within the calm hours of dawn. Now, it waits like a apparition in purge rooms,A syllable I set out not talk out loud.

II.
Your chuckling was once the summer rain,Dancing on my skin in brilliant light. Now, it is the storm that rattles my bones,Leaving echoes in emptied lobbies of my chest.
III.
I follow the outline of us within the dust,Fingers trembling, breath unsteady.Memories slip like sand through clenched fists,No matter how tight, they are continuously falling.
IV.
Did the stars take note when we unraveled?Did the moon moan when we fell apart?Or did the universe proceed, indifferent,To the calm shattering of my heart?
V.
You were the ink within the pages of my story,Each word carved within the beat of your voice. Now, I tear out sentences, delete whole chapters,Hoping one day, the pages will be blank again.
VI.
The echoes of your touch still frequent my skin,Phantom warmth within the chill of night.I reach for you in dreams, arms open,Only to wake to the unfeeling grasp of isolation.
VII.
I type in you into sonnets that will never be read,Pour you into verses that will never be sung. For cherish once given cannot be reclaimed,And a heart once smashed beats in an unexpected way until the end of time.
VIII.
One day, I will observe the dawn without mourning. One day, your title will be fair another sound. But for presently, I let the hurt settle in my bones,A clashing update that we once were.
