Echoes of a Broken Heart

A Soulful Ghazal by Rahi Mo'ayeri

By Rahatweb WebsitePublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Rahi Mo'ayeri, a celebrated Persian poet of the 20th century, is known for his deeply emotional and melodious poetry. His verses often express the bittersweet agony of love, where longing and suffering become inseparable from devotion. In this ghazal, the poet speaks of the wounds endured in love’s path, the poison sipped from its cup, and the fire that consumes the heart. With vivid imagery and heartfelt sorrow, this poem captures the essence of a lover who has surrendered to love’s trials.

🌿 Ask not of love, for its pain I have known,

From its cruel hands, a bitter cup I have been shown.

What need have I to hear of lovers' despair?

A thousand sorrows of love, I myself bear.

In the fire that burned both my heart and soul,

Like a candle, I bowed and in blood paid my toll.

What secrets of love would you reveal to me?

For years, in its streets, I have wept endlessly.
