Echoes in the Static

Silent Echo

By MUHAMMAD SHAFIEPublished 7 months ago Updated 7 months ago 1 min read

For those who want to dive deeper into the feeling behind this poem, here’s a music video by “Echoes From the Static” called “Kill the Echo.” It beautifully captures the mood of silence and echoes that inspired my words.

The screen still flickers in the dark,

Your voice once lived inside the spark—

Now all that’s left are broken lines,

And silence woven through the signs.

I play the video, just once more,

Though I have watched it times before.

Your laugh still echoes down the halls

Of memory's decaying walls.

A thousand comments lie unread,

Like whispered prayers for what's unsaid.

They see the smile, the light you gave—

Not knowing how much you were brave.

You smiled like nothing cracked within,

But I could feel the war you’d win

Each morning just to rise and try,

While hiding shadows in your sky.

Now thumbnails blur with tears I hide,

Each “like” a wave I cannot ride.

The algorithm doesn’t know

That grief is something we don’t show.

I write this not to chase the views—

But just to say I miss your news.

Your channel lives, though you are gone,

A ghost that uploads grief at dawn.

So if you’re scrolling late tonight,

And find this poem bathed in light—

Know someone’s silence hides a storm,

And loss wears many kinds of form.
