Echoes in the Cell

Finding Freedom Within Concrete Walls

By Musinguzi HerbertPublished about a year ago β€’ 1 min read

In shadows deep, where sun fades light, A world confined in iron clades. Cold are the walls, long are the nights, Time dripping slow in mournful lights.

Each day's a mirror, cracked and gray, Reflecting life worn away. Dreams dissolve in endless night, Hope, a whisper, out of sight.

Chains that clink with every sigh, Silent march towards quiet dying. Yet, in the darkness, still a spark, In heart's deep veins, it leaves its mark.

Faces come and go none stays, A life wiped out, year after year. Yet even here, where dark prevails, The soul can still arise and never fail.

For in the mind, where freedom flies, No cell is strong enough to capture the sighs. One memory, a thought, a dream, Life outside, life beyond the seam.

So although they bind me, bar by bar, These cannot take my light from afar. Deep within me lies a place to be where none can see, and I am free.
