Earthly show

Stillness and wonder

The train rattles behind, as I watch the horizon birth astern.

The train rattles behind me, and I acknowledge the opportunity provided. To pay tribute to the progression of human innovation, an aggregate of manufacturing and the systematic work of urban planning.

The train rattles behind me and I am thankful for the divergence it provides vanward.

I am lost in the stillness of this Earthly show.

My only concern stillness and wonder.

“Please don’t go, lest I become supplicant,” my mind pleads to the Devine sunrise.

It does; this vision fleeting of the beauty glimpsed. Artistic grace.

This Earthly show.

My mind’s workbook returns and I take notes. An urgency to recall. To write of this moment.

I sit. My mind no longer anchored.

The safety lights of my unit complex switch off. As do the street lights.

My mood drops to the heaviness of yesterday. When my grief became my body.

To fight racing thoughts I found the black safe harbour of avoidance.

Sleep.

Then in compensation an Earthy abundance more lasting arrives.

The call of the lorikeets.

I am curious.

Did they too marvel, then launch their own joyous spectacle?

Was it their choice to remain quiet?

To catch the show?

Before their dance begins in earnest. The initial morning song of the males, who sing to announce that they are alive, alert and ready to defend their territory.

Hardwired or chosen, beyond my curious disposition, it matters not.

Another blessing.

They are here.
