a poem about earth

I walked barefooted,

I felt the earth beneath—

That warm and cold feeling,

This intimate yet foreign feeling,

Makes me feel connected.

The landlord of all things,

The complaisant mother,

How deserving you are.

We strive to better ourselves

Only to mar you in the process.

O evergreen one,

May your lushness never wane.

Ashes to ashes,

Dust to dust—

In your embrace,

I shall return.

About the Creator

Anu's Quill

I’m just an existential wanderer who happened to stumble into poetry. I think about writing more than I actually write—not the best poet, but trying to get better, word by word, as I share my thoughts and voice.
