Duckin' Treefall
Off the fowl's back and under the bridge.
If waters off a duck's back
Is something you lack
Then you're stuck at the bridge
You need to grow up and forgive
In this world that we live
People will only give
So much consideration
When being judged by the nation
Acting over sensitive
Is not preventative
Off future-failure, detriments
Stacked up over increments
If reactions more than sensitive,
Too repetitive
Your reactions get devalued, then become your impediment
...
You're the tree in the forest disturbing the silence
You're the tree in the forest making cacophonous violence
Let go and be silent
For when you fall down
You'll be ignored by the others.
Pretending the sound
Never happened or seemed to occur
If you disturb the peace they begin to infer
That you never heard
...
Of the duck's back and under the bridge
We let go so we can let live
Our own lives and prosper
Not holding on or bottle up, like a cork stopper
If you hold onto the water the small problems are now dammed
Let go of the droplets, or else you'll be damned
When you build too much of a dam
You give too much of a damn
Pressure building
Overfilling
Then it all just goes BAM!
From the palm of your hands
Pushing past your fingers faster than sand
...
A tree uprooted from soil
A duck without its oil
One's been downed
&
One's been drowned
One's roots were to shallow
One should've stuck to the shallows
If you can't be at peace with everything people say
Eventually you'll come to learn that you out yourself in harm's way
Always overreacting, it's your peace that you stall
Off the back and under the bridge, or else people will be duckin' treefall

Author's Notes: This poem was made to the analogy of allowing water to roll off a duck's back and under the bridge. If we try to hold onto all of the small annoyances and troubles, then we'll be damming up problems that we could easily let go of, especially if they are of no negative effect to us or others. By letting go we allow ourselves to move forward. That being written, if you allow yourself to drown in problems that you can easily let go of to focus on other well deserving priorities, you can now better handle bigger problems. If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound? Yes, it still does. Now, if a tree falls in the forest with other people around, why will they choose to ignore it? By learning to forgive and let go we are enabled to move forward to who we can be, are meant to be, and will be. If you allow yourself hold on, in a dire time of need, others may not be there for you if you've made mountains out of molehills before. Move on to climb better mountains. Let the water roll off your back to keep swimming. Stay well rooted and firm when the wind shakes.
