Drunken Dances
& love at first sight.

At first
Small glances
As curiosity is quite a thing
Longer night progressed
Voices in my heart started to sing
Whispered lyrics I have never heard
Deep and meaningful
Word by word
Tune so sweet
Igniting blood-pumping organ of life inside
Tiny fluctuations and beats changing the tides.
A wedding reception
What are the chances?
Of all the places to connect
We somehow managed to
Throughout drunken dances?
Colors coming alive more vivid than before
Black and white ceasing to thrive
Left for between the lines
Matter of ours no more
Time seemingly non-existent
World moving on around us
While we’re subsiding in this instant
Lost in each other
Uncaring of watching eyes
Now questioning myself
If love really conquers and defies?
Some say destiny plays a part
Perhaps fate
Though I prefer to say it’s all in the chances we choose to take
Whether right or wrong
Only instance will tell
But here we are ten years in and you still have me thrilled
Every look, touch and thought
Genuine moments that could never be bought
2022 December
To be celebrated where it all began
With more drunken dances
As a sober woman
Nevertheless
Intoxicated on your advances.
Together we have overcome and built
That which we never thought
Or imagined
In two little souls filled with passion
All hopes and dreams that reality drained
Restored in wholesomeness and laughter uncontained
Bettering us every day
Amid challenging our loving in the most spectacular way
They make us substantial
Giving reason to improve
Wealth found nonfinancial
Yet in love at first sight
When they entered our lives
Not once
But twice.
