after you

break the only window, chasing

big city productions, I

live

where your grand yearning played

in the vacant theater

----

my face

has been superimposed over

a matronly mahogany that

can't get smudge-free without the hint of

"mommy"

Family

Oh I am calling it now, A, this will place. Holy moly. I can't get enough of this one! Your brilliance shines in the unique cadence you chose over the more common approach to this challenge. No ambiguous statements, rather, enjambed phrases that read differently backwards than forwards. Just amazing. I think my favorite is: "I | break the only window | chasing after you." Incredible, small moment that you chose, and how it grew upon both readings! 💜

  • Your vision is so unique and evocative. We can never really escape from--or live up to--the influence of our parentage.
