Dreamscapes Escape Reason While Making Elliptical (Non)Sense:
An Interview Gone Amiss

A wide winding staircase leads down to a cavernous room with a man locked in a wooden cage; Has he done wrong? Has he been wronged? A sign reads: Warning, do not feed the animal.
(what world lives between the lips)
Grotesque masks on the wall of the long hall warn with wild eyes and silent lips to run - and hiss kisses that turn Joy to stone.
(why do snakes hiss?)
Shattered glass orbits elaborately dressed Demons who pick at shards and give them names of sin that maim and bring Death, soaking soil with life-giving blood.
(what birthed the earth?)
She shakes flakes of skin and sheds threads of golden hair that become windy blizzards that vibrate maniac snowdrifts able to freeze even the Ice Queen
(how do grains of grief become a pile?)
Hands grasp and clasp through flowing white curtains where magnetic pushes and pulls entwine faceless bodies, wrapped in corpses' muslin
(why is the night resisting the day, and the day resisting the night?)
Escheresque staircases with strangers pointing in misleading directions to Eve's full moon-strewn rooftop garden lit with fairy lights and half-eaten apples
(why is death inevitable?)
The air at the Red Queen's castle is fragrant with white night blossoms - and roiling purple clouds that crowd merry grey shadows and gently tap on her shoulder; May I have this dance?
(what unnamed creature is speaking through her?)
Wind whispers slip through fingertips as they dance, eluding a grip on the seasons of her mind - while slipping slowly down her spine until roses bleed into the sand
(what does it want that it can't obtain?)
