Taking a step back

Tryn’ to remember.

What even happened to us,

why aren’t we still together?

By Joshua Rawson-Harris on Unsplash

We said the words,

our hearts surrendered.

I changed my name,

thought that meant forever.

*

But instead I woke up from a dream,

a nightmare at it’s best.

Some wild chaotic scenes,

ripped the heart out of my chest.

By Glen Hodson on Unsplash

And you were standing there,

watching, far off in the distance.

You could have save the day,

could have been the white prince.

*

Instead I had to learn the truth,

you created this whole scene.

Turns out that you’re the monster,

Nothing close to what you seemed.

By Sammy Williams on Unsplash

I'm begging, crying out for help,

tryin to find a way.

That I can finally save myself,

start over and escape.

*

A new adventures start today,

I can be anything I choose.

Brush off memories getn’ in the way,

choosing me now, I can’t lose!
