Surrender to Sleep

By Tyla GrayPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I doubt the appeal's strictly physical

I surrender to sleep

It took a bit of playing

I know someone who might be familiar

With the touch

Social sinner and slave or vice versa

Hope and determination emanated from...

...A kiss? Is that it?

Please don't pull me into this

I was reluctant

You laugh...a good warm sound

Soon replaced by silence

Made cold by unspoken words

After you left - I set about

Pulling myself together with meager success

My hands were unsteady and my head buzzed

The last thing I needed was to be left alone

With my helplessness and anguish

I searched for absolution through activity

I laid my head down

I surrendered to sleep

surreal poetry
