He stands in the corner as an amalgam of every man I’ve ever wanted.

He lurks in the darkness of that corner waiting for me to be ready.

He seems, at times, like an animal, beastly and brutal but surprisingly worthy.

Always reassuring me that he is the one.

The only one.

He allows me freedom but reminds me gently that in the end I am his.

I wait, wondering why he does the same.

Wondering why he has given me this freedom.

Perhaps to cement my love for him, knowing that every man I pursue isn’t worthy.

Only him.

Stay sentinel,

in the shadows,

until I am ready to witness the truth that is behind your eyes.

About the Creator

Amanda Lyons

Eclectic stream of consciousness and dark surrealism. What photography does for life I do for thought, emotions, and experiences. The genres can range from romance to horror but my favorite is suspense.
