Snow white beams seamlessly pierce the windowpane
Casting an eerie, ethereal glow on everything it touches
Phantom sensations play along my limbs
Teasing, feather soft kisses reminding me of him
Blurred images moving through familiar scenes
Like a dream within a dream
When they kiss
I feel his touch upon my lips
When they embrace
I feel the strength of his arms around me
A soft sound escapes my lips
And for a moment the man in the faded scene turns glancing at me
I reached, the desire to feel the warmth of him consuming me
But he does not see me
A heart wrenching cry catches in my throat
My heart in a thousand pieces
A sudden knock jolts me awake
The once blurred man stands now clear in my doorway
A smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye
A wave of relief washes over me
Tears blur my vision
“Why are you crying?” He asks, a confused smile tugging his lips
Without answering I practically throw myself in his arms
Only to fall straight through him
I wake to a still world
The silence is deafening
The cold lays over my body like a second skin
Snow white beams seamlessly pierce the windowpane
Casting an eerie, ethereal glow on everything it touched
No phantom sensations danced along my skin
This time I know I’m awake
And without him.
