Down the Mystic River

a whimsical voyage

In the twilight shadows

In the landscape of our dreams

Hidden in the whispers

That drift down on pale moonbeams

We catch a fleeting glimpse

From the corner of our eye

There’s a world of awe and wonder

Which lies just beyond our sight

*

I want to float down the Mystic River

Through this enchanted land

Through emerald fields, past lavender mountains

Never tread by the foot of man

One moment seems a lifetime

Drifting toward the sea of silver

Beneath an endless pastel sky

Floating down the Mystic River

*

A griffin on the wing

Beating hooves of unicorns

Stirring of the wood nymphs

Announce a new day is born

A land bathed in splendour

That so few will ever see

Safely nestled back in our past

Only glimpsed in memory
