Down By The River

In a stream of consciousness

Mississippi River. Authors photo.

Damn, I am here too early!

Water ceremony is in one hour

I had to leave the house surly

hubby was sleeping and our

agreement is I will let him!

He says I am like a herd of elephants

he can't mean me - I am as quiet as a mouse

he says, "Mice aren't quiet!"

Well, I say come to think of it elephants are!

Okay, I will take the herd of elephants just so far!

Isn't the river beautiful? What was I thinking

getting here so early? It's okay it is just me

who will know, see?

Should I not tell people? Probably! Not!

The trees are so green, and the fresh scent

It's Hubby's fault, I left early.

I ate a breakfast protein bar, walnuts,

and a bison meat stick for breakfast

on the road. I could have saved it

and said I thought I would have a picnic

at the park. Not, I work an honesty program

I can't lie, why oh why, is this a test?

What will one little white lie do?

You are right, it won't be good!

I will have to make amends for lying.

At least I won't have to confess it to the priest.

Bridge over the Mississippi River last Sunday - Author photo.

Well, it is a beautiful day at the river and how!

Time to enjoy the water, the critters, the fowl,

the other people and anyhow

the geese flying south mean holy cow

it won't be nice here for long. Wow

They will be joining me soon now

and I will close this and take a bow!

~

Did I mention, that I can write anywhere?

The extra time gave me time to rhyme

Next week, I will be here

I won't have anytime

to write as I will be right on time!
