Double Nickel Day

My mother's 55th birthday honor

By Katie BerryPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Priceless beyond words, your love, beauty and grace,

I hope to look like you when I come of this age.

You hold wisdom without doubt,

your mind, body and soul too,

I hold you in my heart so tightly,

you beautiful you.

On this day I hope you know, how worthy I am

To have seen the honored title of daughter, at your gracious hand.

I am your kin, there is no denying,

Our gorgeous similarities are quite petrifying.

For our sameness is golden rather than terror struck,

Can you believe the world let two of us run amuck?

I have a heart full of love, empathy and compassion,

And that’s the golden ticket of motherhood that you should be cashing.

With you for a mother, I am so blessed

As I feel that way even when I rest.

I can easily speak for more than myself,

When I say that you- yourself are a currency of wealth.

On your double nickel day, I hope you see

How greatly you light up this world,

with your never ending love and beauty.

—Your sun, moon and stars.
