Doors & Poets

… trained in etiquette.

By Tim GracePublished 12 months ago 1 min read

From this seat, a small window

frames the street; a door swings

on its hinges. Who’s to know

what the welcome brings.

.

Here comes a backpack with a laptop

looking for a hot spot.

Is it be-bop, is it hip-hop?

No, it’s a cool cat with a top knot.

.

Here comes a white shirt with dark glasses

collared by a black tie.

Is it the business look that passes

as a brief case of who am I?

.

… Doors, and poets, are trained in etiquette

… they welcome those they haven’t met.

.

About the Creator

Tim Grace

A first impression has a lasting effect - it makes a notable difference. In a subtle way that’s who I am as a poet. A ‘first impression’ looking for the gentle ‘twist’ that draws attention to a novel observation.
