Door Left Half Closed

Some exits don’t need goodbye

You didn’t

slam the door

You left it

half closed

Like a maybe

like a pause

instead of

a period

No note

No echo

No look

over the shoulder

Just

a draft

of your leaving

creeping

through

what's left

I stood

three feet away

from that

wooden breath

you forgot

to finish

One push

and it clicks

shut

But I

haven’t

moved

I keep

the door

as you left it

Half-closed

Half-hoping

Half-healed

Because maybe

maybe

you weren’t

sure either

inspirational
