Don't Wake Them

I try to contain all these monsters in my brain, and sometimes, I lose.

Quiet!

Be quiet, I said!

Don't make me think right now

It's not safe in my head

Those voices might sell peace,

but they work for the dead

Don't try to distract them

they'll get louder instead

Don't overwhelm them

Please! They'll try to get out!

Oh god stop talking

I can feel their claws in my mouth

Shut the fuck up!

I never meant to say that out loud

Well I guess they win again

There's no point hiding them now

Try to ignore them!

They'll climb in through your ears

They'll tell you lies about me

And they know all of my fears

Just run away, leave now

Save us both the tears

You might say you're strong enough

To stick around while they're here

But they'll push you away

Its been happening for years
