“Don’t Test My Love”

A plea from a heart that loves too deeply

By iftikhar AhmadPublished 8 days ago 1 min read

I might die in your love,

Don’t try to test me out.

If you are smart, then I am beautiful too,

Don’t try to steal your eyes from me.

Test me as much as you want,

I have placed my life at your feet.

Agree to it, cruel one—don’t be stubborn,

My soulmate, after breaking my heart,

Don’t try to smile like this.

Why do you turn your eyes away from me in anger?

My heart has shattered into pieces.

Tell me, beloved, what did I say

That made you upset with me?

This is only an excuse, not the truth—

Don’t try to make excuses like this.

I have been waiting for you for so long.

At least make a false promise in love.

I swear on you, this is injustice.

Even if you don’t remember me, I don’t mind,

But don’t try to forget me.

I might die in your love,

Don’t try to test me out—

In your love.
