DON'T TELL

a poem

By T. LichtPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Inside, I whisper between the beats of my heart,

don't tell the outside world in here you don't feel at all

don't tell the mind, daily grind turned this bloody place into a mill

and you don't feel the teeth in your flesh cutting to the bone at all.

don't tell, the nerves don't work at all, don't tell they've been severed like telephone wires dangling near the ashes.

Inside, don't tell you've been numb for years and you haven't told a single soul so...

This is hauntingly beautiful, raw, and so incredibly powerful. The imagery of severed nerves and dangling wires is so visceral-it speaks volumes in so few words. That hashtag at the end? Perfectly bittersweet. Keep writing pieces like this; they're unforgettable.✨
