Does It Help to Hate?

Advice from Abraham Lincoln

The backlash of a formidable foe will only sore my back / As I listen to the words of one who once ruled / But does it matter if I hate or love / Or find some home in the middle? / Many have reigned and won / Just as many have reigned and lost / The broad relationship trickles down to my own acquaintance / And a judgment most foul will either form or deplete what kind words have already been uttered / Can someone love without agreement? / Or can someone agree with the one who they hate? / Enemies are formed faster than friends it seems / when the soul we have yet to know / Through a law of rushing conclusions / one must find the time to wait / and heed the words of one / Who on one cent imparts some sense once common: / "Defeat your enemies by making them your friends"
