Does anyone really love anyone?

Is this you I love or just your mask?

By Daniel HooksPublished about a year ago 1 min read
This is me and my mask can anyone love me?

You wear a FaceTime mask

answering everything but what I ask.

I think I love you.

Your voice talks in my head

but what if it’s white noise or just dead.

I don’t know how to describe how beautiful you are

but are your eyes blue or brown?

I know your voice’s dulcet sounds

but it always says it hates you when you’re not around

my memories of you are they real

I break them down to recreate to reveal

you

but they don’t

they won’t.

We each wear three masks

one with strangers

one with friends

but it’s the one when we are alone that never ends

even our friends pretend

to move forward on this board game

I am bored of the shame

and of this sham

what is beauty but a glamour a magic spell

who can tell what we are in this hell

this made up fairy tale land

where I love you’s are a scam.
