Do Yourself a Favor

Don't go back.

By Kathleen ShamalyPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Do yourself a favor,

Don't go back to him.

If his his fist meets your body,

Don't go back to him.

If his hands wrap around your neck,

Don't go back to him.

Don't make the mistakes that I did.

I let his fist,

Meet my body more then once.

I let his hands cover my neck,

One more occasion.

I let his apologies unpack my bag,

I let his money,

Buy my concealer.

I let a fancy dinner,

A bouquet of roses,

Make up for broken promises.

Make up for the times,

He crawled out of bed,

To be with a woman,

A woman that wasn't me.

He convinced me to stay,

He convinced me to unpack,

He convinced me it would never happen again,

He convinced me,

I was the only one.

He convinced me,

No one would love me.

Do yourself a favor,

Don't go back to him.

If his fist ever meets your body,

Don't go back to him.

If his hands wrap around his neck,

Don't go back to him.

Someone who isn't him,

Will care for you.

Someone who isn't him,

Will stand by you.

Someone who isn't him,

Will be there for you.

Someone who isn't him,

Will love you.
