Do You See Me?
As I go about my day
How do you see me?
You stuff me into a category
But do you see me?
I may not look like you but I am the same
I may not have what you have but I am the same
I bleed red, my eyes see
The category you place me.
You see me for a second and think you know
Everything about me you wish to know
You have not walked in my shoes or know my name
But your eyes judge we are not the same
I am human and I breathe air
I have a heart and I care
Our causes are different and the same
Hatred and prejudice are words to blame.
The human heart has eyes to see
The mind plays tricks on what we see
Look at me through a human heart
We look different but are not far apart
We have eyes to see
We need air to breathe
Our blood is red
Enough said.
