do not love me.

chew me up

and spit me out

like cud

twist my heart

and drink my tears.

leave me

in a million pieces.

curse me with your touch

burn me with your words

until my skin is cinders.

but do not buy me flowers.

cut my soul of stone

with the ice in your eyes

and leave my body still.

i want to hate you

and wait for you

every night

anyway

because i like the way you

walk away.

come

but do not stay.

i cannot give you my heart

because my past lovers

have taken it all.

please don’t love me.

it hurts more

than a million knives

and your silence.
