Do I Rise?

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

Empty hands but a heavy heart

I’m torn in two

Where do I start

These wings I’ve got they’re feathered lies

I’m grounded here under endless skies

[Verse 2]

The weight of air feels like a chain

A paradox of joy and pain

I want to fly but fear the fall

Do I rise or do I crawl?

[Chorus]

Oh these wings

What do they mean?

Caught between a wish and a dream

They lift me high

They pull me down

Do I soar or do I drown

[Verse 3]

The sky calls out but whispers low

A secret only clouds would know

I take a step

The ground’s unsure

I’m caged by freedom

Wanting more

[Bridge]

The wind it sings

A haunting tune

A song of dusk and rising moon

If I leap will I be free

Or lose myself in eternity

[Chorus]

Oh these wings

What do they mean

Caught between a wish and a dream

They lift me high

They pull me down

Do I soar or do I drown
