Division

A Poem

By Mihaela VasilevaPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Here.

I don’t why I always start like that.

It’s the greater number in the equation.

The present.

You take that

And divide it by the future.

As grand as the future is

It’s so small in comparison

To

Here.

The past?

You make whatever you want of it.

I think I remember the equation.

Dividing.

Inch by inch, we draw lines,

Either in the sand,

Or on paper.

Whatever we choose, really.

You take a number,

Or any entity,

And make sure it’s bigger than the thing you’re dividing by.

Four divided by two is two.

Anything divided by zero

Turns into oblivion.

I’m beginning to feel the shift in it all.

Breathlessly,

I struggle to make it whole.

In order for everything to obtain and maintain its perfection

Some things need to be able to divide.

I cannot say that I have been full.

For too long I have wasted away pieces

Pieces which I held dear to my heart once.

Now,

Is all of it gone?

Take the Past

Add in the Present

Ignore the Future (at least for a bit)

We have Here.

Now take Here

Consider the Future,

And make your judgement.

Do you multiply

Or divide?
