Distraction

A poem

Dancing thoughts that never cease

Ideas running wild like stampeding beasts

Succumbing to the pull but not the release

Taking me away from the things I need

Reeling me in with blinding speed

Acting like a thief, it steals my time

Captivating me with an alluring rhyme

Taking my attention away each time

I know it does nothing but mime

Only a temporary escape from my daily grind

Never truly leaving my responsibilities behind

sad poetry
