Distraction

Distracted, my mind wanders far and wide

Through thoughts and dreams, it takes a joyride

The world around me, fades away

As I'm lost in thought, for a moment to stay

A flicker of memories, dance in my head

Scenes of the past, vividly spread

A smile tugs at my lips, a chuckle in my throat

For a moment, I'm not here, I'm afloat

Distracted, my senses come alive

Colors, sounds, scents, they all arrive

A symphony of life, plays in my mind

With the beat of my heart, I keep time

And then, just as quickly, I'm brought back to now

With a shake of my head, I take a deep bow

To reality, to this present space

With a deep breath, I find my place

Distracted, I may seem, but within I am free

Lost in my thoughts, I roam endlessly

A world of my own, a place of my own

Where I can be me, and simply be known.
