This heart does not beat under floorboards,
but it may still drive me mad.
It pounds in the thick darkness,
cursing me with three a.m. awakenings
and blood run cold.
No evil eye to blame, no pending knock on the door,
yet I cannot find the cause of what haunts me so.

Those first two lines hit so hard I had to start over. Amazingly written. This is one of the best poems I've personally read. I'm not sure if it's meant to be about anxiety, but it captures the feeling perfectly. Loved this!
This poem perfectly conveys the invisible weight of sleepless nights and racing thoughts.
This is so haunting and beautifully written.
A great verse in the tradition of Poe. Well done
