Disgraced
He’d never done anything wrong.
As a kid he’d always struggled to tie his shoelaces on his own -
Support is a remarkable friend,
Yet, now,
He’s disgraced.
They’ve forgotten the sparkle,
Just remember the messy debacle.
Destitution beckons.
“No, we won’t help you,
Help yourself!” they say.
“At least I bring truth to the table”, he exclaims!
“No, it’s only turmoil upon yourself,” they reply.
“How to but it plainly...?”
“We just don’t want you.”
“We’re going very well without you,”
“Perhaps the strongest yet.”
“Yes, doesn’t have quite the same capacity does he?”
“We can’t have him be around students -
And what is that new demeanour?”
“Did he steal it off a homeless bum on the streets?”
“And that smell? What is that?”
“I think you said it, Homeless bum. Hehe, yes you are right - figures.”
“At least he has his life,
It’s unfortunate to be sure, but it’s not our problem anymore,
Just a matter of standards..”
“We don’t know the other half - only what he is now,
AND that is the half we care about”.
“You see, he’s disgraced -
Brought this on himself,
Unable to express, unable to be seen, unable to protect -
Least of all himself!”
“Quick, sound the alarms -
You’re not wanted here!”
“Address the Centrelink office now you filthy scum and
Get a real job you inert mentally-ill nutcase.”
“We share no blame, only place it upon YOU!”
“Because you’re disgraced!”
“See ya!”
