Disgrace

At least that's what they say, And looking back my younger self believed it, But believe me, My identity didn't present itself as a choice I could make, You see the path I was chosen to take wasn't easy, But it allowed me to find myself and to exist freely, Away from the potent lies they sold, realizing shame is like poison eating away at the brightest soul, But pride itself establishes a conscience of pure gold, You are gold is what I'd tell my younger self, It's ok you don't do what the other kids do, It's ok you never kissed a boy in school and wouldn't even get your first kiss until twenty-two, Oh and that feeling that left girls blushing and feeling blue would be the exact feeling that bypassed you, But never allow society to make you think it surpassed you, Because it was never something wrong with what you felt or didnt, Your biggest obstacle was the perception of self, I should mention, You'd never be like everyone else but know that sexuality is self-expression not a form of religion, But pride itself is not being conformed or confined by their limits or being underrepresented by what they perceive as sinning, As if something in you was missing but you'll soon realize that pride represents the beginning, The end of shame and crooked opinions that could've never validated your existence, Don't let society identify you but you defy society, Not by being normal but by inspiring the normal and defining variety in every manner, You cant live by their standards you're different, You're gold although it seems as if loving yourself is a spit in the face, But less of a disgrace you being ace took a huge step of faith to live your truth, You deserve your cake and to eat it too, They scoff at the fact you could be alone forever but maybe it wouldn't be so bad in a dry bed with no bed-wetter, Growing up we were told a thing called together would make us better, A relationship would make life more meaningful instead of growing old with six cats and watching all of my favorites shows switching to and back, A blessing to me but maybe too extreme and maybe we focus too much on the right things, But never forget that the only love you could ever receive would be as an accessory, It's cool to want a nice ring and a bling but what you need is the love you should have for yourself, The necessity, You are gold and your pride shows inevitably
