Disassociation

A Poem

By Sylvia BonesPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Begging affection from the tempted

Their blood shot eyes staring at you

Their faces contorted to mimic your fears

So swallowed by these, you cannot scream

A seamless cloth of frayed objections

Of unreasonable obligations

Which caresses, surrounds, consumes

Your body so

Eternal ethereal claws digging into your skin

Crawling, wounding, searing, confusing

Falling, you are, towards what?

You do not know

You cannot know

For you are in such a confused state

Your reflection is no longer yourself

The name on your tongue, neither

The flesh which surrounds you, neither

The mind within the mind that is neither

Glances at your alien reflection

Only to be plagued by the horrid memories from so deep within

That the temptation of death’s cold hands is the final escape

That you’ve been hoping, waiting for.
