Disappearing Ink

S.E.Linn

By S. E. LinnPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

“I’m the girl in your poems,”

she whispered.

No, I thought.

You may reach across a lifetime,

but her—

you will never touch.

Why? she asked.

Because the woman we speak of

walks in light,

not envy.

She does not lie beside a man

whose gaze drifts to strangers

while his promises grow cold.

Her strength is quiet,

never cruel.

She wears her scars

but - unlike you - shapes them into dreams.

She has no need to burn another.

Her words carry hope.

Her superpower—

Peace.

And you—

you linger in shadows,

longing,

striking,

Weak.

Not the muse of my craft,

nor a worthwhile dream—

In my world, all you could ever be

is disappearing ink.
