"And, just at that moment, when someone says, “There, she is gone,”

there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices

ready to take up the glad shout,

“Here she comes!”

And that is dying…"

Gone From My Sight

— Henry Van Dyke

***

Don’t speak of the moment someone is gone.

Seems rude to bring awareness vocally.

The first rule is to act respectfully.

Just blurting it out should never be done.

Being uncouth is against all rules known.

Mend grieving hearts with sympathy alone.

Offer real help until all wounds are sewn.

Emotions kept in check are needed now.

Then, never repeat the following row.

And just at that moment, when someone says, “There, she is gone.”

Knowing the same fate awaits everyone,

means stepping away and letting it go.

It’s not a fate worse than death as we know.

It’s all pure magic with plenty of stun.

Poof, you’re gone; there’s nowhere for you to run.

The vanishing process has no choices.

Making sense of it won’t be the choicest.

Perhaps a guide can lead the way today.

Leaving this life is so far from the fray.

There are other eyes watching her coming and other voices.

All who surrounded the now faded life,

are complicated and filled with dire grief.

Someday soon, I hope they find true relief.

Memories may not quell the pain and strife.

Life will just stop like the cut of a knife.

Grieving once someone fades from Earthly homes,

To cope, we’ll get drunk on too many rums.

In the blink of an eye or wave of a wand,

It happens so fast, it’s like slight of hand.

Ready to take up the glad shout, and “Here she comes!”

Both rich and poor will get caught in the snare.

No one is immune from the end of the end.

After, ‘I Love You,’ be sure to click ‘Send.’

Anything else you can relay or share?

Remember to leave love and extra to spare.

Spend every second, every day trying.

The disappearing rumor is never lying.

Relax and enjoy all that enticing.

Tomorrow is just nothing but icing.

And that is dying…

Glosa poems are so very difficult to write. Very technically challenging. Successful Glosa are thought-provoking. It is a whole other level to pull all that off and make it interesting to read. You did it all. Very well done, I am impressed and want to read more.
