dime

ten

By Edwin RosengrenPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

there amongst the sands of time

I found a very special dime

and with it I ran quick to store

knowing I might find no more

with the first cent I bought a home

a dozen rooms and more to roam

I filled it with hope and heart

leaving space for love and art

with a second penny I bought a horse

the finest steed there be of course

fleet and fast , strong and proud

the obvious envy among the crowd

third and fourth for lake and shore

to place my home , need say I more

six for barn , seven for larders

laid up for those seasons harder

the eighth and ninth put up

for rainy days

and against those darkest nights

when troubles rise of simple ways

or they who thrive on senseless fight

the last fell with me into the earth

joined again to that we left behind

one to ten … seemed like a fortune

but in the end was ….not its worth

About the Creator

Edwin Rosengren

I have been creating stories most of my life , but have never had a venue that I was comfortable with , which also had a significant audience . As a result most of my stories became amusement for myself only .

Here , I plan to change that .
