Digital Dissonance
Juggling Subscriptions: Because Who Needs a Savings Account Anyway?
In the tangled web of modern convenience,
where pixels replace paper and subscriptions multiply,
I find myself ensnared in digital dissonance,
each service a whisper, a promise, a sly lie.
Emails flood like the tide, each one a demand,
with deadlines looming like shadows in the sand.
My wallet's a labyrinth of automated hands,
pulling at strings I no longer command.
Netflix and Spotify, the sirens that sing,
Hulu and Prime, each a virtual fling.
But the joy fades to static, the burden they bring,
as due dates dance by, like bees with a sting.
The calendar mocks me, with its grid of disdain,
appointments and dues, a relentless refrain.
My mind a circus, thoughts straining the chain,
freedom slipping through fingers, like dry desert rain.
Oh, for a breath from this cluttered domain,
to untangle the knots, to break from the strain.
But here I remain, in this digital reign,
frustrated, exhausted, chasing peace in vain.
