At some stage, we all need to learn
That there is more than just black and white,
There are many different shades of grey
And most of them will be right.
***
We need to learn that almost everyone
Is dealing with a hard luck story of some kind,
So they may seem okay to you today
But falling apart when alone and confined.
***
So behind every smiling face,
Pain, worry or tears may quietly hide,
Not for the every day world to see
Where a careless remark may deride.
***
That popular joker, the one always laughing
May be totally miserable behind closed doors,
Remember this when quietly judging others
Just as you don’t show what’s behind yours.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
