i've been spilling page after page

liquid lines drip from the corner of my mouth like

blood drops into a goblet

served to the masses as communion

this poetry is communion

coming from the unreligious, sacrilegious

do you ever wonder if you will burn in hell for all the reasons you never imagined?

or do you know what you've done

and unjoyfully await the faithful day when you step out of your house and get hit by a meteor

or a bus

or a stray bullet

how many mass shootings and poor fragile white boys do you think it will take until you're next

how many laws do you think it'll take till you're on the opposite side of the fence

kept out?

or imprisoned?

how much segregation do you think it'd take until you realize that

you aren't that special, just "passing enough" to pass this unjust test

if you just keep your head down and write poetry

scream in silence

howl hollowly

but that won't solve a damn thing, eh?

so get off your ass and shape up

wake up

there's work to be done

inform yourself on what the fuck is going on so you can step up

because we need everyone to fight the monster in the office(s)

What is the better term: The work has just began ... or ... The resistance has just began? And the worst on that, I never wanted to know that answer. As so many things I never wanted to do and now, the choice is crystal clear. There are million people out on the street demonstrating against the far-right-movements all around the world. And that gives hope. Neither the Americans, nor we Germans stand alone against them. The resistance is rising. We need hope. As long as we have that, we will stand on the right side of history, no matter how fucked up everything will be.
