Did They Pick You Yet?
slam poetry/rap about pick-mes and female misogynists

Girlie on my feed
Telling me with her whole chest
That if girls can bleed, they can breed,
And be subservient.
I just have one question, miss:
Did they pick you yet?
If you live in marital bliss
Where's your happiness?
/
Your husband peaked in junior high
And thinks he's one of the chosen whites
He voted for Trump all three times
And has two full hidden hard drives.
He doesn't know where your clit is
Only where to put his jizz in
To pop out endless amounts of kids
And when you turn 30, he's gonna call it quits.
/
You deny that ICE is dangerous:
Did they pick you yet?
You say all women need to submit:
Did they pick you yet?
"All you have to do is lie there":
Did they pick you yet?
"All those women are just jealous liars":
Did they pick you yet?
/
It's not anti-feminist
To point out a female misogynist.
You can like cooking and serving all you want,
But it's not the pinnacle of existence.
You're perpetuating the myth
That men can treat us like shit...
Because the Bible says they have dominion
Like you're his legal prison bitch.
/
Rape is never okay,
Not in marriage or after a rough day.
He does not own your body,
Just because you have his last name.
I'm not jealous,
I'm concerned.
You're denying your own worth.
Just for a man who doesn't respect you
Doesn't give you what you deserve.
/
Acquiescing to an abuser
Only makes the grave-hole deeper
He's not gonna magically get better
Because you believe he's a keeper.
So, instead I'll ask you this:
Did you pick you yet?
You might not get another chance:
Did you pick you yet?

This reminded me of a post I saw on Threads today where a woman said she "already lived her worst fear of being unmarried and childless for the first 16 years of her life," and damn, I feel this.
