An ode to your shine

You never realized you were a diamond residing in the dirt.

Hard to realize your worth when you’re hiding in hurt.

You lie dormant while the whole world searches for you.

Oh how they wish they could make such extreme purchase with you.

Some call you the ugly duckling but you’re a soaring swan.

You light the world at twilight and the morning dawn.

Buried in the soil of the earth. Countless legs stand on you.

When your true worth is revealed they can’t wait to get their hands on you.

Is your shine meant to fade away? Never.

It only gets better. You are a diamond and diamonds are forever.
