Devil's Advocate

No one's ever wrong on purpose

By Laura ToddPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The heat is fast turning up

I should stay out of this fight

I'll do this the harder way

You can take the side of right

Why do I advocate for the devil

Maybe it's because he seems so alone

It's supposed to be pretty hot down there

I know how cold it is on my own

I could turn away and hide

No one wants to hear my voice

My mouth overrides my mind

It's like I don't have a choice

Why do I advocate for the devil

Maybe it's because he seems so alone

It's supposed to be pretty hot down there

I know how cold it is on my own

Damage done, I'm done for now

Doomed by my own battle cry

I can wave this flag all night

Wait till dawn to wonder why

Why do I advocate for the devil

Maybe it's because he seems so alone

It's supposed to be pretty hot down there

I know how cold it is on my own

When I am on the lonely side

Will anyone stand up for me

No one's ever wrong on purpose

No matter how wrong I may be
