Detroit Pride

That’s how we learned that when you make something out of nothing - you always have enough.

That’s how we learned that when you make something out of nothing - you always have enough.

I was raised in the outskirts of Detroit, MI but my area code was 313.

Lincoln Park, but we called it Lp & when we’re outta state we rep the D.

Growing up, we weren’t allowed to give up. We were raised to be tough.

You get knocked down? You shake it off and get back up!

You go to baseball practice? You better not forget to bring your cup.

In Detroit, you get sack-tapped when you fail to guard your nuts.

In Detroit, we get our ass whooped for tellin’ so we learn not to make a fuss.

In Detroit, we walked to school or got a ride. The lucky kids took the bus.

We eat sandwiches & ramen everyday for lunch. Breakfast was captain crunch. We don’t have a brunch.

That’s how we learned that when you make something out of nothing - you’ll always have enough.

Everything we own was earned.

There’s no way you could understand the mentality I’m trying to describe, unless you grew up where I did & we share the same pride.
