Detective Brown was on the trail,
A villain to catch, without fail,
She chased him down the winding streets,
Her mind set on capturing the thief's deceit.
But as she ran, her foot caught a stray,
She stumbled, and fell, in dismay,
Her head hit the pavement with a crack,
And into a dream world, she was thrown back.
A place of monocles, as far as the eye could see,
Gigantic ones, small ones, in every degree,
Some hung from the sky, like chandeliers,
Others were worn by creatures, stranger than peers.
She saw a man with a monocle on his nose,
Riding on a unicycle, with a rose,
A lady with a monocle, on a flying broom,
And a group of monkeys, playing a monocle-tune.
Detective Brown was confused and in shock,
This dream world, was a monocle-based mock,
She wandered aimlessly, in search of a clue,
To find her way back, to the world she knew.
As she walked, she saw a figure in the distance,
It was the villain, with a sly persistence,
She ran towards him, determined to catch,
But as she reached out, she woke with a gasp.
It was all a dream, and the villain was gone,
But the image of the monocles, lingered on,
She couldn't shake off the feeling of unease,
As she realised, the dream, was a monocle-based tease.
