I looked great on paper,
so you didn’t say no.
Well, I hope he makes you happy,
because I sure damn couldn’t.
Why would I ever try so hard,
when it was all so useless?
Now, I just have the most difficult time,
with even the simplest of things.
Then, I feel shame,
embarrassment,
and anger chasing my heels.
One day, I’ll be better enough,
good enough,
more than enough.
One day, I won’t remember any of it and I’ll wake up brainwashed,
but in a good way…
I’m thankful that Jesus is in the feet-washing business and in the mind-washing business.
I sure could use both.

It feels like you’re holding onto something steady even when everything else feels unsteady. But let me tell you, you are enough, even on the days when it doesn’t feel like it. 😊
