Desolation - A Mere Shadow, Lonely Passenger
Dark Acrostic 5
Desperate to have a connection, though devoid of the resources to achieve such connection
emptiness inside is visible through the cavernous pools of his eyes
some say he's always been that way, born emotionless, drained of life
others claim he changed in time, shaped by heartbreak, ruined by life
love can be such a cruel mistress when it goes, leaving an unfillable hole
apathy often takes its place, for misery loves company, a band of brothers
the loneliness settles, becomes his safe place, his fortress of solitude
isolation from anything that is a memorial, nostalgia is cast to the abyss
opening his heart to no-one else, ever again, for fear that it may burst
never finding peace for his shattered soul, a mere shadow, lonely passenger.

Yo-yo!! Can you please ask me next time you want to write about my life! lol. Ugh. That was way too close to home..or at least many of the lines were… & surely relatable for many others too. What a cool acrostic with so much depth and emotion. Mine are like by a two year old! Anyhow, stumbled upon this and glad I did.☺️👍
This is fabulous. Well done, buddy.
Oh misery sure does love conpany! Brilliant poem! 🍩🥐
So much melancholy in this…and also so many brilliant lines. “the cavernous (?) pools of his eyes” 👌 “Drained of life…. Shaped by heartbreak, ruined by life” that takes me back in time!!! Great work, Paul 👌✨❤️
Excellent Piece❤️📝👌
It’s like you’re a mind reader! My emotions exactly! Great work!
