Deserted Society

Where Silence Speaks Louder Than Crowds

By Nawaz HassanPublished 9 days ago 1 min read

We built our cities shoulder to shoulder,

yet learned the art of standing alone.

Screens glow brighter than streetlights,

names replaced by usernames,

voices traded for echoes.

We scroll past hunger, grief, and war,

double-tap a stranger’s pain,

then sleep peacefully,

calling it awareness,

calling it enough.

Doors are locked, not for safety—

but for distance.

We fear conversations more than chaos,

truth more than lies,

and loneliness more than injustice.

In this deserted society,

the loudest cry is unseen,

the deepest wounds go viral,

then vanish by morning.

Still, somewhere between the noise and neglect,

a human heart waits—

hoping someone will stop,

look up,

and remember how to stay.
