HIM

You carry the fading ring on your finger like the cross
You drape around your neck.
Rizlas snag on your fingers
From the constant caressing of worn down strings.
Your hallmark is your perfect imperfection.
Your room is adorned with
Keepsakes from forgotten nights,
Beer bottles, shot glasses, empty cigarette packets.
But the important souvenirs are forever etched
In your memory and your being.
Your undying attention to everything
Makes for stiff competition.
THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

a throwaway comment
makes Its wings beat.
i feel the thin veil
press against my heart
with force
over and over.
It pumps my blood
in an aortic allegro.
my vessels push
With tidal force.
they patter like raindrops
relentlessly
beating the skin of my neck
like the hide of a drum.
the Butterfly
makes my skin ripple
and my lungs shrink.
It consumes me.
dr/unk

I rely on you to feel the good
To unfurl my spine
Untie my muscles
Unravel my thoughts
Why is seeking happiness
Such a punishment?
FALLING

Dusk warms my mood
And you my heart
A temperate glow fell over me,
I’ve never felt anything like this.
Smoke dances
I lean back and
Let the feeling take me
I watch you through a haze -
Clouded by intoxication
But for the first time, not
By judgement.
All the promises fall together
Into one look.
For the first time i can feel the truth
The apology
At my fingertips
Which i align with yours
And this is the foundation on which we build our future. A link which, whilst fragile, may never be broken.
